Mediation

Mediation is an alternative dispute resolution process where two individuals or a group of people who are having a conflict meet with a mediator to resolve the issues. The mediator is a neutral party who facilitates the conversation and helps the parties reach an agreement or a plan.

The process begins with the mediator meeting individually with everyone who will attend the mediation session. The purpose is to find out what issues each person would like to resolve in mediation and to answer any questions about mediation. Then a joint session is scheduled, which everyone attends. The goal of the session is to reach an agreement about how to resolve the issues. Depending on the issues more than one meeting may be required.

Mediation may be scheduled in person or over zoom.
